We’ve seen a lot of growth and change over the past year here at Oregon Music Academy. This extends beyond the progress our students have made. We’ve also grown as an academy. As word has spread about our music lessons in Tigard, the number of students we serve has increased. Most of our teachers’ schedules are getting very full as we head into the new school year.
While we’re ecstatic about this growth, it does create some new challenges. One of those challenges is: how do we provide makeup lessons when our teachers are booked solid?
In the past, we’ve had a few open spots here and there between lessons where students could schedule a make up lesson. Over the past year, these spots have dwindled as they’ve been filled by new students. It has become increasingly difficult to find available makeup options as OMA has grown.
We know how important a little flexibility is to you. We understand that kids get sick or you’re trying to squeeze in a family getaway between a packed schedule. And we didn’t want to eliminate makeup lessons entirely.
Our solution for 2013-14 is to reserve the first Friday of every month for make up lessons. This way you can mark your calendar in advance and plan accordingly for any makeups. When you give us advanced notice of an upcoming absence, we’ll offer you a make up on the following first Friday of the month. Of course, if there’s an unexpected illness or event, please let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
2013-2014 Makeup Lesson Dates
Here are our planned makeup days for 2013-2014:
October 4, 2013
November 1, 2013
December 6, 2013
January 10, 2014 (moved for holiday)
February 7. 2014

April 4, 2014
May 2, 2014
June 6, 2014
July 11, 2014 (moved for holiday)

It would be very rare that any of our students would need to use more than a couple of these makeups throughout the year. As you know, regular attendance at lessons is the first step toward progress with your musical studies. If you have any questions or concerns about absences or makeup lessons, please feel free to contact me.
