Tigard Emergency Training

Keeping your family safe is important to us. The main way we do this on a day to day basis at Oregon Music Academy is through the work we do screening, hiring, and training our certified music teachers that teach music lessons at our Tigard music school.

But why stop there? Several of our team members here at Oregon Music Academy have completed training through the City of Tigard’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) program. Involvement in this community outreach has helped to prepare us to keep our students and families safe in the event of emergencies. At the same time it gives us the opportunity to give back to our community and neighbors in Tigard and beyond when man-made or natural disaster strikes. Being active in your community is important and the more people that are involved, the safer our community will be. That’s why you’re invited to join the Tigard CERT Program.

An Invitation to Join Tigard CERT

If you work or live in Tigard, you’re invited to join your neighbors in this fantastic community program. The next training is September 4 – October 17 2012, Tuesdays from 6-9pm at the City of Tigard Public Works Building located at 8777 SW Burnham Street (corner of Burnham St. and Hall Blvd.) The program is free to anyone that lives or works in Tigard. About Tigard CERT Training

This is comprehensive emergency response training course that’s expertly presented and organized by the City of Tigard, Oregon, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, and Tigard CERT volunteers. We learned a lot about how to be prepared for an earthquake, extinguishing fires, putting together a 72 hour emergency kit, and much more. We got to meet a lot of great people in Tigard and even got a chance to put out a fire with the equipment and hose on a real fire truck at the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Training Center between Sherwood and Tualatin!

CERT Training Covers:

  • Disaster Awareness, Hazard Mitigation, and Community Emergency Response Team Concepts.
  • Utility Control, Fire Suppression. Hazardous Materials.
  • Disaster Medicine – Triage and treatment of minor and life threatening injuries
  • Light Search and Rescue – Visual assessment of damaged buildings, search techniques, rescue techniques and patient transport
  • Team Response and Management
  • Terrorism and Community Response Teams
